Western Power has recently changed their online service request process for services such as meter installations and temporary disconnections and reconnections.
As part of this change, Western Power has introduced the requirement for upfront payment for the service via credit card.
Payment can be made by the contractor using their own credit card details OR by obtaining their customer’s credit card details and entering them into the request.
Understandably, some customers may be reluctant to provide their credit card details to a contractor. Under these circumstances, NECA recommends that the contractor encourages their client to do so on the basis that they will not be charged a margin on the service cost.
It should be noted that Western power no longer accepts manual service requests.
