In the last edition of eNews, we informed members of the government announcement that all electrical licensing fees would be waived until 31 March 2021.
NECA WA can now let members know that if you paid your renewal between 1 April 2020 and when the fees were waived in late May, you will receive a refund directly from Building and Energy (B&E).
However, it is important to note that if your contact details have changed since you paid the fee, you will need to update them on B&E’s website to avoid any delays in receiving your refund.
B&E have indicated they will process all of the refunds by the end of the financial year, so please wait until 30 June before contacting them to check on the progress of your refund.
NECA WA can also confirm that the waiver applies to both EC and EW renewals which fall due until 31 March 2021.
New electrical licence applications are also free until that date.
Please note that regardless of the fee being waived, you will still need to renew your licence.
A number of members have asked what happens if you paid your renewal before 1 April. If this is the case, then you won’t receive a refund for that payment but when you next renew your licence prior to 31 March 2021, you will not be charged a fee.
For more information please visit Building and Energy’s website.
