Vale Shaun Doyle

13 July 2023

We regret to inform members that Shaun Doyle of Albany, NECA WA’s longest-standing member, passed away on 30 June at the age of 103. He is survived by his children Angela, Margaret, Christine and John, and their families.

An article honouring Shaun's 100th birthday and covering his fascinating career and life was featured in an issue of the NECA News magazine back in 2019. Born in Narrogin in 1919, Shaun commenced his apprenticeship in Albany in 1936. After serving in the Australian Airforce in World War II, Shaun married Maureen in 1948 and the newlyweds moved to York, where they started their business - S and M Doyle Electrical Contractors. After 10 years in York, the opportunity arose to return to Albany. S.M Doyle is now run by Shaun's son, John, making the business a member of NECA WA for the last 75 years. Shaun himself had only passed in his electrical worker's licence this year!

In 2019 Shaun's advice for contractors was, “Just do the job the best you know how and cultivate a reputation for that. Be able to look back on a job well completed.”

NECA WA would like to express sincere condolences to Shaun's family and friends, and thank him for a lifetime of dedicated service to the WA electrical industry.
