Survey - Help improve jobs in the energy sector

The Australian Government has launched the Australian Energy Employment Report (AEER), a national survey of businesses in, or supporting, the Australian energy sector.

The government is aiming to understand energy sector jobs, the people in those jobs and their skills, and forecast how these jobs are changing.

The survey is targeted at businesses and organisations in electricity, energy retail, support services, fuels, management, and tradespeople working in the energy sector. The survey asks questions about the business as a whole and should be completed by people with sound knowledge of the organisation, its policies and workforce – including directors, owners, senior managers and HR managers.

Your responses will:

  • give federal, state and local governments insights to assist in the development of policies regarding jobs, skills development and training opportunities in the energy sector
  • support new government initiatives such as ensuring a transition pathway for fossil fuel industry workers and provide a snapshot of workforce diversity to support equity and diversity initiatives in the energy sector, such as Equal by 30
  • allow organisations in the energy sector to improve industry-led workforce planning, support business opportunities and direct industry investment.

The government will use learnings from this survey to develop a business case to build on the capability of the AEER and broaden its data collection in future years.

Take the survey by 11.59pm Sunday 30 April 2023.
