Overhead connections – point of attachment

ECA WA Technical has received a number of enquiries regarding the minimum requirements for a repair to a point of attachment in an overhead supplied area.

The minimum height for the service cable is 2.5m at the lowest point of the service cable loop.

If this cannot be achieved using a standard bracket, then a raiser bracket will be required - refer to 12.4.7 of the WA Distribution Connections Manual (WADCM). In addition to this, the maximum side pull angle is 30 degrees. Where this cannot be achieved, a long span raiser bracket is required - see figure 60 from the WADCM below.
