Emergency and Exit Lighting Guide

Our Technical Team is often asked to provide guidance on the requirements for emergency and exit lighting for buildings.

This is quite a complex area and not something that Technical can give concise answers to, as there are many variables such as class of building and the specific fit out of building.

To assist members, Technical have developed the table below (click here to view as a PDF).

This is intended to be used for guidance only and needs to be used in conjunction with the relevant National Construction Code (NCC) and AS/NZS 2293.1:2018. Consideration also needs to be given to the layout of partitions, shelving etc. If the requirements for a specific building are not clear, the local building inspector should be consulted.
