As winter approaches, the health and wellbeing of our transient community is under even greater threat. Many of us would like to help but aren’t sure how, so when we heard of Sharon Foster’s initiative to provide backpacks for the Street Doctor team to distribute, we were keen to participate.
360 Street Doctor is a mobile GP clinic which provides health services from their purpose-built clinic truck, for transient and disadvantaged people in identified suburbs around Perth.
In the spirit of ECA WA’s charitable purpose, we purchased and assembled 10 backpacks stuffed full with a cosy sleeping bag, gloves, beanie, scarf, socks, waterproof tarp, plastic poncho, hand sanitiser and mask. Extra scarves and warm socks were donated by staff, who also made cash donations directly to Street Doctor.
Sharon has been working with Street Doctor for many years and has been touched by the support from electrical contractors, following a recent post on Perth Electricians facebook page. “I can’t thank you all enough. This practical gesture will not just help to warm their heads and hands, but also their hearts”
If you would also like to help, please either donate directly Street Doctor or drop off assembled backpacks to our head office.
