Clarification - Changes to generator installations

Members - please be advised of the clarification to the second paragraph below (highlighted in bold):

The Australian/New Zealand standard for Electrical installations – Generating sets AS/NZS 3010 was updated in 2017 and section 7 of AS/NZS 3000:2018 has also been revised to reflect the changes to AS/NZS 3010:2017. 

One significant change is a requirement under clause 7.3.3 for a Generator Main Switch to be installed at the installation main switchboard. This main switch is required when an automatic changeover switch is installed or in addition to a changeover switch when the changeover switch does not have an off position. 

Below are typical switching arrangements. We suggest members familiarise themselves with both Section 7 of AS/NZS 3000:2018 and AS/NZS 3010:2017 prior to commencing a generator installation.
